Stay Cool, Stay Hydrated
In Atlanta, it can get very hot outside. (We’re not called Hot’lanta for no reason.) That’s why it’s important to stay hydrated, especially during these scorching summer months. Check out these tips below to help keep you cool and hydrated.
Keep a Refillable Water Bottle with You
This makes it easier to always have water by your side. Refill it whenever it becomes empty and stay refreshed.
Add Some Flavor
If plain water isn’t your favorite, jazz it up with freshly cut up fruits and herbs, like lemons, limes, kiwis, oranges, berries, mint or basil.
Be Aware of Signs of Dehydration
One telling sign of dehydration is your urine color. The darker your urine, the more dehydrated you are. Other symptoms of dehydration include headaches, excessive thirst, fatigue, cramps and dry, tight skin.
What Can Cause Dehydration?
Besides not drinking plenty of water throughout the day, there are other causes of dehydration such as excessive sweating, diarrhea, vomiting and urinating frequently.
If Not Properly Hydrated, What Can Happen?
If your body isn’t properly hydrated, the symptoms above may occur; however, dehydration can also progress to worse issues, such as kidney problems, heat injury, seizures and hypovolemic shock, which occurs when you lose more than 20% of your body’s blood or fluid supply.
Follow these simple tips and look out for those markers of dehydration this summer. Go out and enjoy your summer by making sure you’re staying cool and hydrated.
